Atlanta, April 16 - Beer Republic Brewing, LLC, has placed a contract to purchase the property at 394 North Clayton Street in downtown Lawrenceville and will convert it into a 56,000 square foot, state-of-the-art production brewery. Plans for the location include a taproom, retail shop of packaged beers for carryout, beer garden and event space.
Beer Republic is the parent company for Big Kettle Brewing and Ironshield Beer. Both will be operating from the Clayton Street location with Big Kettle Brewing providing contract brewing services for other craft breweries in Georgia and throughout the Southeast. Ironshield Beer will be Beer Republic’s own house brand and will encompass more than 30 proven award-winning beers ranging from Munich-style lagers, German bocks, pilsners, Belgian Trappist-style ales, a Scotch ale and an authentic Bavarian hefeweizen beer.
Owners Dave Rice and Glen Sprouse, master brewer, bring more than 50 years’ total experience to the business in professional brewing and beverage production, packaging, engineering and marketing. “We are excited to be able to participate in the energy and growth we have seen in Lawrenceville and hope to make it “the place to go” for great craft beer”, says Sprouse.
Bringing New Opportunities Within A High Growth Industry
This new venture will add more than 20 new jobs to the local economy upon opening, and more than 50 new jobs over the next five years. Available positions will range from brewers, cellarmen, lab technicians, packaging operators and managers, marketing, sales, administrative and skilled labor with heavy emphasis on full-time positions with benefits. “We plan on working with local educational institutions to develop internship programs, mentoring and apprenticeship opportunities to help further the craft beer culture and industry in our local community”, says Rice.
